SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,697. The state had 545 new cases and 2,820 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 20,824. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 312.

So far, South Dakota has had 231,379 cases and 207,858 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 27 new cases and 107 recoveries. The county currently has 1,113 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,985 cases and 8,738 recoveries. There’s currently 114 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,215 cases, followed by Pennington County with 31,868 and Lincoln County with 15,301, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,181, Brookings with 7,953, Meade with 6,794, Lawrence with 6,382, and Yankton with 5,818.

Statewide 512,274 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 459,808 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state).  Statewide 201,811 have received the booster shot(under 31% of the state).

Brown County has 23,429 receiving at least one shot & 21,896 completing vaccination. 10,472 receiving the booster shot.
