PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,772. The state had 877 new cases and 1,551 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 8,465. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 222.
So far, South Dakota has had 234,961 cases and 223,724 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 9 new cases and 66 recoveries. The county currently has 477 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,125 cases and 9,533 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,639 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,299 and Lincoln County with 15,392, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,303, Brookings with 8,050, Meade with 6,902, Lawrence with 6,511, and Yankton with 5,866.
Statewide 514,340 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 71% of the state) with 462,586 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state). Statewide 205,066 have received the booster shot(under 32% of the state).
Brown County has 23,500 receiving at least one shot & 22,046 completing vaccination. 10,677 receiving the booster shot.
