SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths(one in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,167. The state had 401 new cases and 549 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 6,735. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 221.

So far, South Dakota has had 146,995 cases and 138,093 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 13 new cases and 16 recoveries. The county currently has 250 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,337 cases and 5,993 recoveries. There’s currently 96 Covid-related deaths(1st death reported since June 2nd).

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 36,128 cases, followed by Pennington County with 19,362 and Lincoln County with 9,908, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,279, Brookings with 4,982, Meade with 4,240, Lawrence with 4,135, and Davison with 3,638.

Statewide 424,074 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 64% of the state) with 392,487 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state). Brown County has 19,968 receiving at least one shot & 18,943 completing vaccination.
