SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,241. The state had 403 new cases and 335 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,483. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 205.

So far, South Dakota has had 154,885 cases and 147,161 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 19 new cases and 22 recoveries. The county currently has 267 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,685 cases and 6,315 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,591 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,925 and Lincoln County with 10,294, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,598, Brookings with 5,141, Meade with 4,563, Lawrence with 4,368, and Davison with 3,751.

Statewide 450,392 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 416,988 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 56,335 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,844 receiving at least one shot & 18,762 completing vaccination. 2,656 receiving the booster shot.
