SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,303. The state had 486 new cases and 368 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,775. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 246.

So far, South Dakota has had 161,960 cases and 152,882 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 24 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 344 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,056 cases and 6,611 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 39,076 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,039 and Lincoln County with 10,696, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,862, Brookings with 5,265, Meade with 4,806, Lawrence with 4,598, and Davison with 3,934.

Statewide 467,143 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 423,244 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state).  Statewide 99,156 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 21,568 receiving at least one shot & 20,057 completing vaccination. 5,207 receiving the booster shot.
