SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,398. The state had 448 new cases and 438 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,692. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 261.

So far, South Dakota has had 171,248 cases and 161,158 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 10 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 298 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,437 cases and 7,032 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,327 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,068 and Lincoln County with 11,312, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,205, Brookings with 5,510, Meade with 5,007, Lawrence with 4,810, and Davison with 4,217.

Statewide 485,461 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 66% of the state) with 436,924 completing vaccination(over 54% of the state).  Statewide 142,947 have received the booster shot(over 18% of the state).

Brown County has 22,339 receiving at least one shot & 20,756 completing vaccination. 7,430 receiving the booster shot.
