SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,474. The state had 944 new cases and 338 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,871. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 237.

So far, South Dakota has had 178,395 cases and 168,050 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 40 new cases and 10 recoveries. The county currently has 250 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,680 cases and 7,303 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 43,260 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,801 and Lincoln County with 11,841, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,434, Brookings with 5,745, Meade with 5,181, Lawrence with 4,931, and Davison with 4,518.

Statewide 494,645 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 67% of the state) with 444,563 completing vaccination(over 55% of the state).  Statewide 168,835 have received the booster shot(under 26% of the state).

Brown County has 22,663 receiving at least one shot & 21,151 completing vaccination. 8,623 receiving the booster shot.
