SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,528. The state had 1,683 new cases and 385 recoveries, increasing active infections to 17,219. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 307.

So far, South Dakota has had 191,094 cases and 171,347 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 67 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 531 active cases. Overall, the county has had 8,044 cases and 7,404 recoveries. There’s currently 109 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 47,351 cases, followed by Pennington County with 25,283 and Lincoln County with 12,938, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,699, Brookings with 6,280, Meade with 5,430, Lawrence with 5,198, and Davison with 4,793.

Statewide 499,859 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 448,067 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state).  Statewide 179,468 have received the booster shot(under 28% of the state).

Brown County has 22,898 receiving at least one shot & 21,321 completing vaccination. 9,231 receiving the booster shot.
