SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,534. The state had 2,708 new cases and 434 recoveries, increasing active infections to 22,743. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 336.

So far, South Dakota has had 197,912 cases and 172,635 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 140 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 768 active cases. Overall, the county has had 8,319 cases and 7,442 recoveries. There’s currently 109 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 49,460 cases, followed by Pennington County with 26,274 and Lincoln County with 13,533, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,880, Brookings with 6,604, Meade with 5,620, Lawrence with 5,355, and Davison with 4,943.

Statewide 501,177 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 449,089 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state).  Statewide 182,803 have received the booster shot(over 28% of the state).

Brown County has 22,926 receiving at least one shot & 21,367 completing vaccination. 9,362 receiving the booster shot.
