SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths(1 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,334. The state had 1,341 new cases and 1,810 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 6,778. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 243.

So far, South Dakota has had 166,208 cases and 157,096 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 52 new cases and 86 recoveries. The county currently has 302 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,258 cases and 6,848 recoveries. There’s currently 104 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 40,140 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,590 and Lincoln County with 11,019, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,981, Brookings with 5,366, Meade with 4,914, Lawrence with 4,705, and Davison with 4,046.

Statewide 476,860 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 64% of the state) with 429,250 completing vaccination(over 53% of the state).  Statewide 120,681 have received the booster shot(over 14% of the state).

Brown County has 21,991 receiving at least one shot & 20,058 completing vaccination. 6,248 receiving the booster shot.
