SD Dept of Health reports 6 new COVID-19 related deaths(1 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 6 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,814. The state had 76 new cases and 323 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 4,166. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 148.

So far, South Dakota has had 236,132 cases and 229,152 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 8 new cases and 10 recoveries. The county currently has 234 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,209 cases and 9,858 recoveries. There’s currently 117 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,828 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,488 and Lincoln County with 15,443, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,347, Brookings with 8,064, Meade with 6,966, Lawrence with 6,540, and Yankton with 5,883.

Statewide 516,645 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 465,438 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 207,654 have received the booster shot(over 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,569 receiving at least one shot & 22,165 completing vaccination. 10,816 receiving the booster shot.
