SD Dept of Health reports 7 COVID-19 related deaths, death rate now over 2,000

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 7 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,001. The state had 55 new cases and 88 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 634. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 57.

So far, South Dakota has had 123,877 cases and 121,242 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 5 new cases and 3 recoveries. The county currently has 52 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,604 cases and 5,460 recoveries. There’s currently 92 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,648 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,791, and Lincoln County with 8,695, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,646, Brookings with 4,218, Davison with 3,238, Yankton with 3,100, and Lawrence with 2,993.

Statewide 343,187 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 53% of the state) with 314,368 completing vaccination(over 48% of the state).  Brown County has 16,501 receiving at least one shot & 15,300 completing vaccination.
