SD Dept of Health reports 7 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 7 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,267. The state had 431 new cases and 349 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,857. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 187.

So far, South Dakota has had 156,995 cases and 148,871 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 27 new cases and 20 recoveries. The county currently has 299 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,833 cases and 6,434 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,984 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,282 and Lincoln County with 10,417, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,671, Brookings with 5,177, Meade with 4,655, Lawrence with 4,436, and Davison with 3,786.

Statewide 453,825 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 68% of the state) with 419,186 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 72,819 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,951 receiving at least one shot & 19,830 completing vaccination. 3,482 receiving the booster shot.
