SD Dept of Health reports 7 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 7 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,779. The state had 158 new cases and 907 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,706. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 211.

So far, South Dakota has had 235,116 cases and 224,631 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 7 new cases and 43 recoveries. The county currently has 441 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,132 cases and 9,576 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,656 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,328 and Lincoln County with 15,395, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,307, Brookings with 8,051, Meade with 6,918, Lawrence with 6,515, and Yankton with 5,865.

Statewide 514,564 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 71% of the state) with 462,799 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 205,335 have received the booster shot(under 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,529 receiving at least one shot & 22,061 completing vaccination. 10,701 receiving the booster shot.
