SD Dept of Health reports 7 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 7 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased through Tuesday, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,050. The state had 374 new cases(last week 269) and 146 recoveries(last week 122), increasing active infections to 657(last week 434). Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 39(last week 33).

So far, South Dakota has had 125,592 cases and 122,885 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 9 new case and 2 recoveries. The county currently has 11 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,662 cases and 5,556 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 32,037 cases, followed by Pennington County with 14,175, and Lincoln County with 8,766, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,683, Brookings with 4,270, Davison with 3,267, Yankton with 3,123, and Lawrence with 3,056.

Statewide 383,862 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 59% of the state) with 357,714 completing vaccination(over 54% of the state). Brown County has 18,323 receiving at least one shot & 17,308 completing vaccination.

The South Dakota Department of Health will update the figures on a weekly basis.  Next update will be Wednesday, August 11th.
