PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,228. The state had 718 new cases and 943 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 5,392. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 193.
So far, South Dakota has had 153,321 cases and 145,701 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 35 new cases and 33 recoveries. The county currently has 250 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,631 cases and 6,281 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,321 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,641 and Lincoln County with 10,209, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,549, Brookings with 5,113, Meade with 4,506, Lawrence with 4,317, and Davison with 3,721.
Statewide 446,941 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 67% of the state) with 371,010 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state). Statewide 43,767 have received the booster shot.
Brown County has 20,706 receiving at least one shot & 17,633 completing vaccination. 2,454 receiving the booster shot.
