SD Dept of Health reports 8 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,249. The state had 718 new cases and 680 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,513. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 202.

So far, South Dakota has had 155,603 cases and 147,841 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 55 new cases and 42 recoveries. The county currently has 280 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,759 cases and 6,379 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,772 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,046 and Lincoln County with 10,345, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,622, Brookings with 5,157, Meade with 4,603, Lawrence with 4,390, and Davison with 3,762.

Statewide 451,930 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 68% of the state) with 419,981 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 63,046 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,886 receiving at least one shot & 19,793 completing vaccination. 3,118 receiving the booster shot.
