SD Dept of Health reports 8 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,289. The state had 745 new cases and 698 recoveries, increasing active infections to 6,535. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 243.

So far, South Dakota has had 160,088 cases and 151,264 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 36 new cases and 38 recoveries. The county currently has 315 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,958 cases and 6,542 recoveries. There’s currently 101 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 38,647 cases, followed by Pennington County with 21,781 and Lincoln County with 10,593, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,785, Brookings with 5,221, Meade with 4,751, Lawrence with 4,536, and Davison with 3,874.

Statewide 458,372 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 69% of the state) with 421,739 completing vaccination(under 59% of the state).  Statewide 91,258 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 21,251 receiving at least one shot & 19,995 completing vaccination. 4,833 receiving the booster shot.
