PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,392. The state had 384 new cases and 440 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,688. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 270.
So far, South Dakota has had 170,800 cases and 160,720 recoveries.
Locally, Brown County had 17 new cases and 27 recoveries. The county currently has 296 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,427 cases and 7,024 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.
Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,208 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,029 and Lincoln County with 11,277, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,197, Brookings with 5,515, Meade with 5,004, Lawrence with 4,803, and Davison with 4,188.
Statewide 484,098 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 66% of the state) with 436,026 completing vaccination(over 54% of the state). Statewide 140,287 have received the booster shot(over 18% of the state).
Brown County has 22,287 receiving at least one shot & 20,726 completing vaccination. 7,261 receiving the booster shot.
