SD Dept of Health reports 8 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,766. The state had 392 new cases and 1,010 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 9,145. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 223.

So far, South Dakota has had 234,084 cases and 222,173 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 21 new cases and 58 recoveries. The county currently has 524 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,116 cases and 9,477 recoveries. There’s currently 115 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,611 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,275 and Lincoln County with 15,382, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,296, Brookings with 8,044, Meade with 6,878, Lawrence with 6,503, and Yankton with 5,863.

Statewide 514,299 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 71% of the state) with 462,369 completing vaccination(under 58% of the state).  Statewide 204,820 have received the booster shot(under 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,500 receiving at least one shot & 22,034 completing vaccination. 10,660 receiving the booster shot.
