SD Dept of Health reports 8 new COVID-19 related deaths(1 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 8 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,494. The state had 779 new cases and 316 recoveries, increasing active infections to 8,778. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 238.

So far, South Dakota has had 179,983 cases and 168,711 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 28 new cases and 11 recoveries. The county currently has 272 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,707 cases and 7,327 recoveries. There’s currently 108 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 43,872 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,942 and Lincoln County with 12,036, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,463, Brookings with 5,803, Meade with 5,211, Lawrence with 4,964, and Davison with 4,548.

Statewide 496,547 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 68% of the state) with 445,596 completing vaccination(under 56% of the state).  Statewide 171,821 have received the booster shot(over 26% of the state).

Brown County has 22,753 receiving at least one shot & 21,201 completing vaccination. 8,821 receiving the booster shot.
