SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,384. The state had 627 new cases and 513 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,752. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 267.

So far, South Dakota has had 170,416 cases and 160,280 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 16 new cases and 31 recoveries. The county currently has 306 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,410 cases and 6,997 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,112 cases, followed by Pennington County with 22,981 and Lincoln County with 11,260, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,178, Brookings with 5,514, Meade with 4,995, Lawrence with 4,793, and Davison with 4,170.

Statewide 483,065 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 65% of the state) with 435,492 completing vaccination(over 54% of the state).  Statewide 138,099 have received the booster shot(under 18% of the state).

Brown County has 22,256 receiving at least one shot & 20,713 completing vaccination. 7,205 receiving the booster shot.
