SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,407. The state had 335 new cases and 435 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 7,583. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 273.

So far, South Dakota has had 171,583 cases and 161,593 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 13 new cases and 23 recoveries. The county currently has 288 active cases. Overall, the county has had 7,450 cases and 7,055 recoveries. There’s currently 107 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 41,412 cases, followed by Pennington County with 23,102 and Lincoln County with 11,332, Other counties totals include Codington with 6,220, Brookings with 5,519, Meade with 5,022, Lawrence with 4,823, and Davison with 4,230.

Statewide 485,706 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 66% of the state) with 437,361 completing vaccination(over 54% of the state).  Statewide 144,528 have received the booster shot(over 18% of the state).

Brown County has 22,346 receiving at least one shot & 20,770 completing vaccination. 7,542 receiving the booster shot.
