SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,582. The state had 2,588 new cases and 1,304 recoveries, increasing active infections to 34,086. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 403.

So far, South Dakota has had 214,473 cases and 177,805 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 130 new cases and 27 recoveries. The county currently has 1,353 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,049 cases and 7,586 recoveries. There’s currently 110 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 53,583 cases, followed by Pennington County with 28,937 and Lincoln County with 14,636, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,395, Brookings with 7,353, Meade with 6,139, Lawrence with 5,800, and Davison with 5,331.

Statewide 504,663 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 69% of the state) with 451,245 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state).  Statewide 189,535 have received the booster shot(over 29% of the state).

Brown County has 23,093 receiving at least one shot & 21,486 completing vaccination. 9,728 receiving the booster shot.
