SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,637. The state had 1,145 new cases and 2,242 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 33,647. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 411.

So far, South Dakota has had 225,383 cases and 189,099 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 84 new cases and 70 recoveries. The county currently has 1,582 active cases. Overall, the county has had 9,641 cases and 7,946 recoveries. There’s currently 113 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 55,414 cases, followed by Pennington County with 30,904 and Lincoln County with 15,086, Other counties totals include Codington with 7,865, Brookings with 7,805, Meade with 6,562, Lawrence with 6,150, and Davison with 5,616.

Statewide 507,301 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 69% of the state) with 453,304 completing vaccination(under 57% of the state).  Statewide 194,606 have received the booster shot(over 30% of the state).

Brown County has 23,235 receiving at least one shot & 21,574 completing vaccination. 10,038 receiving the booster shot.
