SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,706. The state had 667 new cases and 3,899 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 17,583. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 312.

So far, South Dakota has had 232,046 cases and 211,757 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 37 new cases and 193 recoveries. The county currently has 977 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,022 cases and 8,931 recoveries. There’s currently 114 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,310 cases, followed by Pennington County with 31,982 and Lincoln County with 15,329, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,212, Brookings with 7,982, Meade with 6,814, Lawrence with 6,403, and Yankton with 5,835.

Statewide 512,372 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 70% of the state) with 460,128 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state).  Statewide 202,270 have received the booster shot(over 31% of the state).

Brown County has 23,433 receiving at least one shot & 21,919 completing vaccination. 10,508 receiving the booster shot.
