SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,928. The state had 594 new cases and 361 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,470. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 30.

So far, South Dakota has had 239,704 cases and 235,306 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 24 new cases and 8 recoveries. The county currently has 55 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,373 cases and 10,207 recoveries. There’s currently 121 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 57,644 cases, followed by Pennington County with 33,088 and Lincoln County with 15,660, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,545, Brookings with 8,193, Meade with 7,079, Lawrence with 6,634, and Yankton with 5,963.

Statewide 525,569 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(73.05% of the state) with 475,214 completing vaccination(59.68% of the state).  Statewide 219,868 have received the booster shot(34.41% of the state).

Brown County has 23,822 receiving at least one shot & 22,460 completing vaccination. 11,388 receiving the booster shot.
