SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,142. The state had 472 new cases and 536 recoveries, increasing active infections to 7,388. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 214.

So far, South Dakota has had 145,018 cases and 135,488 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 21 new cases and 27 recoveries. The county currently has 292 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,287 cases and 5,900 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 35,675 cases, followed by Pennington County with 19,012 and Lincoln County with 9,789, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,208, Brookings with 4,933, Meade with 4,146, Lawrence with 4,070, and Davison with 3,607.

Statewide 421,636 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 64% of the state) with 390,039 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state). Brown County has 19,872 receiving at least one shot & 18,794 completing vaccination.
