SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths(2 in Brown County)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,843. The state had 81 new cases and 371 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 3,355. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 120.

So far, South Dakota has had 236,432 cases and 230,234 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 7 new cases and 17 recoveries. The county currently has 209 active cases. Overall, the county has had 10,233 cases and 9,905 recoveries. There’s currently 119 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 56,874 cases, followed by Pennington County with 32,538 and Lincoln County with 15,458, Other counties totals include Codington with 8,375, Brookings with 8,073, Meade with 6,974, Lawrence with 6,544, and Yankton with 5,896.

Statewide 517,334 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 71% of the state) with 466,296 completing vaccination(over 58% of the state).  Statewide 208,580 have received the booster shot(over 32% of the state).

Brown County has 23,602 receiving at least one shot & 22,193 completing vaccination. 10,882 receiving the booster shot.
