SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths(Brown County at 100 COVID-19 deaths)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,214. The state had 417 new cases and 436 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,696. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 202.

So far, South Dakota has had 151,971 cases and 144,061 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 26 new cases and 16 recoveries. The county currently has 241 active cases. Overall, the county has had 6,567 cases and 6,226 recoveries. There’s currently 100 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 37,078 cases, followed by Pennington County with 20,353 and Lincoln County with 10,158, Other counties totals include Codington with 5,503, Brookings with 5,082, Meade with 4,448, Lawrence with 4,275, and Davison with 3,701.

Statewide 443,513 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 66% of the state) with 375,338 completing vaccination(over 57% of the state).  Statewide 37,505 have received the booster shot.

Brown County has 20,553 receiving at least one shot & 17,966 completing vaccination.  1,624 receiving the booster shot.
