SD Dept of Health reports 9 new COVID-19 related deaths(Death rate above 3,000)

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 9 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 3,002. The state had 963 new cases and 1,027 recoveries, decreasing active infections to 644. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 99.

So far, South Dakota has had 258,510 cases and 254,864 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 33 new cases and 46 recoveries. The county currently has 20 active cases. Overall, the county has had 11,078 cases and 10,934 recoveries. There’s currently 124 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 61,136 cases, followed by Pennington County with 36,528 and Lincoln County with 16,475, Other counties totals include Codington with 9,486, Brookings with 8,795, Meade with 7,833, Lawrence with 7,346, and Yankton with 6,422.

Statewide 534,135 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 75% of the state).

Brown County has 24,160 receiving at least one shot.
