SD Dept of Health reports no COVID-19 deaths for the 5th straight day

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases decreased & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 1,938. The state had 163 new cases and 229 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,419. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 98.

So far, South Dakota has had 118,680 cases and 114,323 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 6 new cases and 10 recoveries. The county currently has 88 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,343 cases and 5,164 recoveries. There’s currently 91 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 30,098 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,293, and Lincoln County with 8,313. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,241, Brookings with 3,893, Davison with 3,130, Yankton with 2,952, and Lawrence with 2,902.

Statewide 276,846 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 46% of the state) with 186,860 completing vaccination(over 31% of the state).  Brown County has 13,039 receiving at least one shot & 9,199 completing vaccination.
