SD Dept of Health reports no new COVID-19 death for the 2nd straight day

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases and hospitalizations continues to drop, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death toll now at 1,809. The state had 122 new confirmed cases and 186 recoveries, lowering active infections 2,244. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus decrease to 109.

So far, South Dakota has had 109,405 confirmed cases and 105,352 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 2 new cases and 12 recoveries. The county currently has 149 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,018 confirmed cases and 4,790 recoveries. There remains 79 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,297 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,521, and Lincoln County with 7,535. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,806, Brookings with 3,483, Davison with 2,912, Lawrence with 2,767, and Yankton with 2,759.

Statewide 86,465 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine with 39,205 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination.  Brown County has 3,672 receiving at least one shot & 1,900 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
