SD Dept of Health reports no new COVID-19 deaths, active cases continues to rise

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased while hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,896. The state had 165 new cases and 124 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,096. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 74.

So far, South Dakota has had 113,129 cases and 109,237 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 4 new cases and 3 recoveries. The county currently has 75 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,161 confirmed cases and 4,997 recoveries. There’s currently 89 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 28,227 cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,974, and Lincoln County with 7,817. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,018, Brookings with 3,609, Davison with 2,961, Lawrence with 2,832 and Yankton with 2,814.

Statewide 158,135 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 30% of the state) with 86,562 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(over 20% of the state).  Brown County has 6,852 receiving at least one shot & 4,320 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
