SD Dept of Health reports no new COVID-19 deaths for the 2nd straight day, active cases continues to rise

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased while hospitalizations remained the same, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,896. The state had 149 new cases and 134 recoveries, increasing active infections to 2,109. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 74.So far, South Dakota has had 113,378 cases and 109,371 recoveries.Locally, Brown County had 5 new cases and 6 recoveries. The county currently has 75 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,167 confirmed cases and 5,003 recoveries. There’s currently 89 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 28,274 cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,980, and Lincoln County with 7,837. Other counties totals include Codington with 4,024, Brookings with 3,614, Davison with 2,967, Lawrence with 2,833 and Yankton with 2,816.

Statewide 165,425 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(over 31% of the state) with 89,788 completing vaccination(over 20% of the state).  Brown County has 7,4622 receiving at least one shot & 4,451 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination(Johnson & Johnson vaccine not administered at this time).
