SD Dept of Health reports no new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations increased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,038. The state had 21 new cases and 10 recoveries, increasing active infections to 167. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 25.

So far, South Dakota has had 124,582 cases and 122,377 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had no new cases and 1 recovery. The county currently has 8 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,645 cases and 5,542 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 31,764 cases, followed by Pennington County with 13,949, and Lincoln County with 8,722, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,657, Brookings with 4,237, Davison with 3,252, Yankton with 3,114, and Lawrence with 3,018.

Statewide 368,330 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 57% of the state) with 346,445 completing vaccination(under 53% of the state). Brown County has 17,567 receiving at least one shot & 16,770 completing vaccination.

Starting next week, the South Dakota Department of Health will update the figures on a weekly basis.  Next update will be Wednesday, July 7th.
