SD Dept of Health reports 2 new COVID-19 related deaths

PIERRE, S.D.(HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported 2 new COVID-related deaths, while active cases increased & hospitalizations decreased, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health. The death total currently at 2,071. The state had 535 new cases and 215 recoveries, increasing active infections to 5,688. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 218.

So far, South Dakota has had 133,372 cases and 125,613 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 14 new cases and 1 recovery. The county currently has 137 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,842 cases and 5,610 recoveries. There’s currently 95 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 33,411 cases, followed by Pennington County with 16,178 and Lincoln County with 9,175, Other counties totals include Codington with 4,827, Brookings with 4,525, Lawrence with 3,542, Meade with 3,515, and Davison with 3,381.

Statewide 405,883 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(above 62% of the state) with 374,403 completing vaccination(over 56% of the state). Brown County has 19,161 receiving at least one shot & 18,056 completing vaccination.
