SD Dept of Health reports no new COVID-19 related deaths for 2nd straight day

PIERRE, S.D. (HubCityRadio.com) – The state reported no new COVID-related deaths, while active cases & hospitalizations stayed about the same, according to figures released by the South Dakota Department of Health today. The death total currently at 1,863. The state had 212 new confirmed cases and 207 recoveries, increasing active infections to 1,938. Those hospitalized in connection with the virus is 91.

So far, South Dakota has had 111,546 confirmed cases and 107,745 recoveries.

Locally, Brown County had 6 new cases and 13 recoveries. The county currently has 58 active cases. Overall, the county has had 5,095 confirmed cases and 4,953 recoveries. There’s currently 85 Covid-related deaths.

Statewide, Minnehaha County has had 27,785 confirmed cases, followed by Pennington County with 12,787, and Lincoln County with 7,686. Other counties totals include Codington with 3,948, Brookings with 3,566, Davison with 2,940, Lawrence with 2,810 and Yankton with 2,792.

Statewide 123,451 have received at least one dose of COVID-19 Vaccine(under 18% of the state) with 62,878 receiving 2 doses needed to complete vaccination(over 9% of the state).  Brown County has 5,746 receiving at least one shot & 2,998 getting the 2 shots need to complete vaccination.
