PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Department of Human Services has programs available to help those caring for a disabled or aging relatives.

Yvette Thomas, head of Long Term Services says while the funding is there for respite (rest-pit) care, the people often aren’t.

Thomas says they are expanding the available resources to those interested in respite care.

Thomas says they are also offering online resources.

Thomas appeared before the Joint Committee on Appropriations.
