PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Education Department restarted the process to revise Social Studies standards in May. That followed proposed changes that generated protests in how some historical subjects were included or excluded.
Education Department Secretary Tiffany Sanderson says they are following through on the new plan.
Sanderson says local school districts will still be able to adapt the standards.
Sanderson says there will be opportunities for public input through the process.
The Social Studies Standards Commission is scheduled to meet through the summer.
