PIERRE S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota House of Representatives debated and then defeated the Governors veto of HB1217, the trans gender, fairness to women in sports bill.
During the final debate, bill sponsor, Representative Rhonda Milstead of Hartford said local control is not working.
Representative Steven Haugaard of Sioux Falls says the Governor failed to lead.
Representative Liz May of Kyle said they had a duty to follow through.
The final vote was 45 yes to 24 no, which was short of the 47 votes needed to override the veto.
