SD House Majority Leader discuss upcoming issues in the 2022 legislative session

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.As the House begins it’s investigation into the fatal traffic accident involving Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg, Majority Leader Kent Peterson says nothing has been decided

Much of the committee’s work will be in executive session and not open to the public.

South Dakota is feeling the pressure from inflation and that’s reflected in stress on wages and finding workers.

That’s according to House Majority Leader Kent Peterson. He says it’s a topic that continues to be discussed everywhere across the state.

So it’s no surprise what will be top priority for the legislature.

Kent Peterson said when it comes to spending federal COVID money, the South Dakota legislature is doing it differently

Peterson says that’s a responsible approach and will keep taxpayers off the hook for ongoing costs of programs.

With the effort to put legalizing recreational marijuana on the November ballot again, House Majority leader Kent Peterson says the legislature is at a crossroads.

The legislature convenes for it’s regular session in January. Both the House and Senate have been considering how to proceed with legalizing marijuana in the state.
