SD Housing Development Authority release draft plan for housing infrastructure

HURON, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Housing Development Authority has released a draft plan to use fifty million federal grant dollars for housing infrastructure.

They also decided to wait on using one hundred fifty million state dollars for similar projects.

Representative Roger Chase of Huron chaired the interim committee last summer that came up with many of the housing funding bills. He says its good to get some of the money in play.

Chase says the main bill passed this year wasn’t clear on how that money could be used.

Chase says developers and local governments can start to apply for the fifty million dollars.

The federal funds have to be committed by 2026.
