SD Joint Committee of Appropriations looking to determine what to do with COVID-19 funding

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The State of South Dakota will get about nine hundred seventy-five million dollars under the American Recovery Plan Act. Cities and counties will share another sixty-five million dollars.

Senator Jean Hunhoff of Yankton, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Appropriations, is a member of a legislative task force that will come up with guidelines on where to spend the money.

Hunhoff says the rules on spending continue to change.

Hunhoff says the state has to be careful in using the one time money for ongoing programs.

The “Covid Relief Liaison Committee” will meet next week in Pierre.
