PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- Lawmakers in Pierre are eager to unravel the $1..8 million embezzlement case within the South Dakota Department of Social Services.

Former employee Lonna Carroll is accused of embezzling Child Protection Services funds over a 13-year period.

State Senator Tim Reed of the Government Operations Audit Committee says they need more preventative measures in place.

Carroll was arrested last week in Iowa, and is still awaiting extradition to South Dakota.
