SD legislators discuss possible summer studies that could be done

PIERRE, S.D.(KCCR)- With the bulk of the 99th legislative session in the rear view mirror lawmakers are turning their attention to the interim and possible summer studies.  District 24 Representative Mike Weisgram of Fort Pierre says he’d like to see a deeper dive on eminent domain.

District 24 Senator Jim Mehlhaff agrees with Weisgram on a harder look at eminent domain.  He also believes the failure of legislation on protecting children from pornography in the internet will manifest as a summer study.

District 24 Representative Will Mortenson says drug policy and it’s impact on the state might be an area for a closer look.

Mortenson and Weisgram sit on the interim Executive Board of the South Dakota Legislature which is the group that will establish any interim summer studies later this spring.
