SALEM, S.D.(WNAX)- South Dakota legislators will have almost a billion dollars in additional federal funds to spend in the next few years.
House Majority Leader Kent Peterson of Salem says this round of funding has different rules than earlier pandemic dollars.
Legislators earlier this year rolled millions of dollars into reserve funds. Peterson says they are hitting the limits of what can go into those accounts.
Peterson says he is confident that legislators will have plenty of ideas on how and where to spend those dollars.
A legislative task force will make recommendations to Governor Kristi Noem as she prepares next years budget.
