SD legislators to determine what to do with the $1.9 billion from the infrastructure bill

PIERRE, S.D.(WNAX)- The federal infrastructure bill signed this week by President Biden will send about one point nine billion dollars to South Dakota. Of that, hundreds of millions will be set aside for highways, roads and bridges.

Representative Caleb Finck of Tripp, Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, says while he hasn’t seen many details yet, expects the new money to fit into their existing process.

Finck says current federal funding fits into several categories.

Finck says the state D.O.T. has lists of projects that are ready to be funded.

Finck says finding more money to help counties with their road and bridge programs is a priority.
