SD Medical Marijuana Oversight committee hearing from dispensary owner

PIERRE, S.D.(KELO)- South Dakota’s new medical marijuana law is presenting some problems with enforcement.

The Legislature’s Medical Marijuana Oversight committee got an earful Monday morning from Peter Deacon…who operates a dispensary in Sioux Falls.

He says Vape shops are undercutting his business and face little to no regulation in selling cannibis products.

Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum  (TOOM) is part of the committee.

He recognizes the problem, and says law enforcement is working on it.

One of the committee members confirmed that testimony, and said medical patients are also buying from the vape shops instead of the dispensaries.

The Committee is charged with developing rules for enforcing the new medical marijuana laws.
