AVON, S.D.(WNAX)- The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission voted Friday to ask a judge to appoint the commission as receiver for the Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Avon.
PUC staff attorney Kristen Edwards told the commission the elevator was forced to close when they lost their grain license on July first.
Elevator manager Kevin Tjeerdsma (chuch-ma) said they are looking for new financing.
Commissioner Gary Hanson says they want to hear about all the options.
Commission staff said the fuel station, fertilizer plant and feed store were separate businesses and could still operate while the elevator is shut down.
